Kids these days require more care and supervision than the kids nurtured of the past. And this is because of various reasons which starts from the mother. Mother’s these days lack nutrition which affects the kid too. We are going to discuss few such issues which make us realize that kids care is an important issue these days. One of the most important issues that must be considered is malnutrition. Malnutrition doesn’t limit to food intake alone, it is also caused due to improper hygiene practices, improper quality of kids care and unhealthy pregnant mothers. As unhealthy mother’s would lead to underweight babies which have a higher risk of dying young. Kids who suffer malnutrition would have a difficult time going to school as they would lack the capacity to learn which in turn results in poor performance and they also possess a higher risk of dying young. Kids lacking in essential vitamins and minerals also undergo major health issues which affect their survival and development. Diarrhea is another major issue that we must look upon as it the major cause of death amongst children.. As each year an estimated 400,000 children below five years of age die due to diarrhea. The main causes if diarrhea is unhygienic drinking water and practices. In India more than 122 million households are without toilets. Thus the first step towards kids care is to see if the child undergoes proper water, sanitation and hygiene practices. Children of today are becoming increasingly vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Most of the HIV positive mothers pass the disease unknowingly to their children. There is a 30% chance of being infected by the disease during mother’s pregnancy or even through breastfeeding .
